October 2018 – The 2018 Elsie Fest was a musical festival like never seen before – The 4th edition of New York’s First Outdoor Broadway-themed music festival featured the best loved songs and stars from the Great White Way.
Both fans and the performers celebrated the magic of the theater at Central Park’s Summerstage, and it was all for a great cause – Broadway Cares / Equity Fights Aids.
Elsie Fest was a unique opportunity for musical theater fans of all ages to see their heroes in a natural setting. In fact, it was theater without “theatrics” – no makeup, no costumes, no exotic set designs, no hydraulic lifts or dramatic lighting – The Elsie Fest was simply “Raw Energy”, from the stage to the audience and back to the performers!
The Elsie Fest has been nicknamed “The Coachella of Muscial Theater” for its diversity, eclecticism, and the fact that it takes place in the great outdoors. Some Broadway veterans who’ve gone on to television and film stardom made a triumphant return to the Elsie Fest stage – where it all began for them. Sneak peek performances from the movie musical “Anna and the Apocalypse”, the upcoming musical comedy “Prom” & “Be More Chill”, offered theater fans something to look forward to in the coming season. From sing-alongs to surprise guests, Elsie Fest was a night in New York City to remember.
