NYC VIBE at the Bloomberg 50 Gala
February, 2018 – Tremendous changes occurred in politics, technology and entertainment over the past year in New York City and around the world. So who were the outstanding individuals who had the greatest impact on our lives in the past year? The answer to that question is: The Bloomberg 50!
A diverse group of reporters and editors selected the first annual Bloomberg 50. The criteria was simple: Who were the people who defined global business? The worlds of finance, journalism, film and entertainment were well represented on the red carpet at Gotham Hall. The host for the evening was comedian Keegan Michael-Key. Some of the Bloomberg 50 are familiar to us: Jordan Peele, Rachel Maddow, Jeff Bezos, Adam Silver, Lilly Singh, and Chance the Rapper. Some of the Bloomberg 50 are currently in the news: Elon Musk, Jerry Brown, Michel Barnier, Nikki Haley, Beatrice Fihn and Alessandro Michele. Some of these names you may never have heard of, but they are all here for a good reason.
In the past year, a hit Broadway musical served as an inspiration to thousands of Theater goers. Like the Bloomberg 50 – it changed the way we look at ourselves and the society we live in. So it was appropriate to bring a little bit of Hamilton to the Bloomberg 50, as cast member Mandy Gonzalez was in attendance.
The Bloomberg 50 is a fascinating list as a guideline for who to look to for inspiration, leadership and knowledge. Everyone of the Bloomberg 50 earned their honors through passion, dedication and excellence in their respective fields.
