GIVENCHY BY RICCARDO TISCI PRESENTED SPRING-SUMMER 2016 COLLECTION IN NYC FOR THE FIRST TIME
September 2015: New York NY: Givenchy, under the artistic direction of creative director, Riccardo Tisci showcased its Spring/Summer 2016 collection in New York for the first time, demonstrating the importance of the city and country to the House.
Star Studded Celebration: Among the celebrities in attendance included Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, Joan Smalls, Amanda Seyfried, Courtney Love, Julia Roberts, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Naomi Campbell, Laetitia Casta, Margot Robbie, Pedro Almodovar, Erykah Badu, Emma Ferrer, Jennifer Hudson, Ciara, Christina Ricci, Hailee Steinfeld, Liv and Steven Tyler, Uma Thurman, Liya Kebede, Lara Steone, Nicola and Will Peltz, Victor Cruz, Debbie Harry and Lana Del Rey.
About the Givenchy Show: The runway show was decorated with recycled materials and took the form of a performance dedicated to love and sharing. It took place on the banks of the Hudson in the Tribeca district.
The show was not only attended by members of the world of fashion and celebrity, but also fashion college students and local residents who had won a competition organized in partnership with the city. An even larger audience was able to watch the event on giant screens in Times Square which aired the show live, as well as using images from the House’s website, www.givenchy.com . These were further promoted using posters on buses travelling through the Bronx, Harlem, and Queens areas of the city.
Marina Abramović, a friend of the fashion house and collaborator on a number of Givenchy artistic projects, joined Riccardo Tisci to create a performance that reached beyond the scope of fashion. It was conceived as an emotional experience focusing on universal themes of love, peace, freedom, humility, and spirituality. Four artists performed spiritual and cultural chants from across the world, and were joined by seven other artists who hosted live performances from the venue.

The event took place alongside the opening of the House’s first flagship boutique on Madison Avenue, designed by Riccardo Tisci. It coincides with the designer’s ten-year anniversary with the House, representing a long-term celebration of Givenchy style and its history with the city of New York and its citizens.
About the Givenchy Collection: Strength and femininity could also be seen in the models who wore the collection, Joan Smalls, Mariacarla and others brought the human and sensual style of Givenchy to life before a delighted audience.
