Bottega Veneta at 2022 Milan Fashion Week – Matthieu Blazy made his debut as creative director

February 2022, Milan, Italy: Bader Studios Europe covering Milan Fashion Week witness the new direction and changes that 35-year-old Belgian designer Matthieu Blazy has instituted since taking over recently from Daniel Lee at the luxury house. The key direction that Mathieu told us afterwards was simplicity and wearability.

Since taking over design direction, the fashion world has eagerly waited for Blazy, who worked with Raf Simons at Calvin Klein, Maison Margiela Artisanal and Celine to demonstrate his vision on a huge platform.

He went to tell us, “Bottega Veneta is, in essence, pragmatic because it is a leather goods company. Because it specializes in bags it is about movement, of going somewhere; there is fundamentally an idea of craft in motion. It is style over fashion in its timelessness. That is part of its quiet power.”

The collection clearly embodied craft in motion – focusing on the quality of the fabrics and flow that made it easy for models to show off. Mathieu uses the phrase “Quiet Power” which the fashion insiders on site and watching online agreed that he accomplished his goal offering his first collection as the brand leader. Blazy’s vision for the growing and popular Italian brand, Bottega Veneta truly brings a real feeling and belief the pieces are wearable and bold – all at the same time!
