Scout Motors Joins with the South Carolina Governor for Bill Signing Ceremony at the State House

March 20, 2023 – Columbia, SC:
With a stroke of the pen, South Carolina governor Henry McMaster signed the agreement that will establish Scout Motors to build its first manufacturing plant just north of Columbia in the Blythewood community.
The company will build all-electric, next generation trucks and SUVs at the Richland County site.
Scout is backed by the Volkswagen Group and was introduced as a SUV in 1960 and with this new plant is revitalizing this classic vehicle.
President and CEO of Scout Motors Scott Keogh joined with the governor for a signing ceremony in the State House and then on the steps for the public to hear details on $2 billion dollar in plant and creation of 4,000 jobs.
Once at full capacity the plant could produce more than 200,000 vehicles a year.
Construction will begin this year with vehicle production targeted to begin by the end of 2026.
