Born Anthony Benedetto in Astoria, Queens, this iconic singer of pop standards, big bands, show tunes, and jazz celebrates his 90th birthday with a career retrospective at the Paley Center for Media, exploring Mr. Bennett’s extraordinary life and his impact on American arts and culture,

NYC VIBE talks with producer/manager Danny Bennett (Tony’s son), and Mr. Bennett about his Queens roots and family, working the clubs on 52nd “Swing Street” in the 1950’s, his historic Carnegie Hall concert, and his relationships with New York City icons past and present: Frank Sinatra and Lady Gaga.

Tony commemorated his 90th birthday with a TV special named for one of his most enduring hit songs “The Best Has Yet To Come”.

His son and manager, Danny Bennett, has played a major role in his father’s career since 1979. He also serves as executive producer for “The Best Is Yet To Come”.

Tony also told the tale of his treasured friendship with Frank Sinatra, speaking of Sinatra’s love of his music, and helping him change his career to become what it is today.

Nowadays Tony is singing with another emerging icon from New York City: Lady Gaga, and he believes that the sky is the limit for her success.
