September 2016: West Hollywood CA: The power of television and celebrity activism took center stage at Emmy weekend in Hollywood.
Kicking-off the Emmy festivities at the Sunset Tower Hotel, TV Guide Magazine and TV Insider saluted actors who use the power of their celebrity to advocate for social change with the Television Industry Advocacy Awards which benefit The Creative Coalition. The ceremonies were hosted by Wendi McLendon-Covey of The Goldbergs.
Award Presenters: Among the noted CFDA presenters included: Abbi Jacobson, Alexa Chung, Alexander Skarsgard, Anna Wintour, Ansel Elgort, Claire Danes, Ilana Glazer, Jennifer Hudson, Karlie Kloss, Michael C. Hall, Michael Kors, Riley Keough, and Tilda Swinton.
Rock / Fashion Icon Feted: This year’s CFDA Awards also paid homage to a chameleonic style icon from the world of rock ‘n’ roll, David Bowie, who was recognized with the prestigious Board of Directors Special Tribute Award.
Academy Award winning actress Tilda Swinton accepted the award for the recently departed rock icon. Tilda read a letter to the Ziggy Stardust star; then she introduced
Michael C. Hall who rendered one of David’s songs. Michael starred in the highly acclaimed Bowie production of “Lazarus.”
